Stroke
Q. Will my stroke impact my polygraph examination?
A. Individuals who have suffered a stroke in the past will probably have to obtain a written statement from a doctor that indicates that the examinee’s condition will not be adversely affected by a polygraph examination. If the stroke has incapacitated the examinee, or any of his or her major cognitive functions, many polygraph examiners will refuse to conduct the test regardless of the opinion of the doctor. If the examinee is taking blood thinners, it is important to advise the examiner. In rare cases blood thinners have been known to cause small hemorrhages under the skin below the blood pressure cuff.
